FAQs
Everything you need to know about Your Pub Quiz
- How reliable is the technology?
-
Our streaming partners offer a 99.9% guarantee of uptime.
Although we safeguard the service with backup measures, we have not lost a customer yet and they have not cancelled a quiz due to technical difficulties.
We’re happy to discuss further any specific concerns you have and explain in more detail the measures we employ to mitigate them.
- Why can’t I get video?
-
We are restricted only by the limitations of the internet, or more specifically the ability of UK internet service providers (ISPs) to successfully stream video without buffering (stalling) – if you’ve ever watched YouTube, 4OD or BBC iPlayer you’ll understand that this would be most inconvenient in the middle of an important question!!
Also, not all of our pubs have large screens, or have them viewable by the whole pub. Even then, they would need to be networked to the internet.
Lastly, we appreciate that we are only a part of our quiz teams’ night out – as a social event they also want to chat with friends and the TV can be a very antisocial distraction!
- Won’t people cheat using iPhones?
-
They can’t!
We use technology to beat technology removing the temptation to cheat and restoring trust in pub quiz as a fun and fair competition.
Implementing phone bans is impractical and unpopular. Your Pub Quiz combines clever formats and scheduling to keep the atmosphere competitive but not combative.
- We’ve never done a quiz before, will it be successful?
-
Your Pub Quiz offers our wide social network contacts to help publicise your pub quiz.
We offer a free Poster Design Service as well as tips on how to make the night itself go smoothly.
Ultimately you will need to put the word around locally and familiarise yourself with hosting the quiz so that quiz teams soon become quiz regulars!
We offer a 2 week free trial but if it doesn’t meet your expectations then you may unsubscribe from with nothing to pay.
We also offer a 10 week guarantee of total satisfaction or your money back.
- Can teams play without a quiz host?
-
You’ve played Who Wants to Be A Millionaire or Mastermind or University Challenge from the comfort of your armchair right?
Each of our pubs takes charge of their own administration; selling sheets, marking papers, distributing prizes. None of them have previous experience of running a pub quiz and have used only the instructions included in our weekly quiz pack to help them.
We offer a 2 week free trial for you to discover how successful our pub quiz can be in your pub. If it doesn’t meet your expectations then you may unsubscribe from the service with nothing to pay.

The questions are non-googlable making it possible for them to rollover.

-

Our weekly voting poll offers pubs and teams the chance to choose their favourite specialist subject for 5 questions in Your Round.
- What happens if we miss a question?
-
We introduce each question in a manner that grabs everyone’s attention. We phrase and announce each question concisely and clearly repeating each question once.
Your quiz pack includes a sheet of all the questions and answers so you can clarify any misunderstandings as you collect answer sheets.
Our live chatbox gives you the opportunity to have queries clarified instantly, however we have not experienced any such incident to date!
- What happens if we miss the start of a round?
-
The timings for each of the rounds are marked on the answer sheets so teams know when to expect each round to start.
We give sufficient warning before each round starts and introduce the start of each round in a manner that makes sure everyone is ready.
- Can you announce our scores?
-
Our experience shows that distributing scores will either incentivise teams who are close to winning to cheat or teams who are close to losing to quit. Whilst this element of suspense is uncommon in pub quizzes, we always find it is the most effective way of keeping a full and harmonious room right to the end.
However, each pub is able to publicise scores locally and we can offer advice on how to do so.
- Who else is playing?
